Vizag association makes Rs 40 lakh profit

Visakhapatnam: Vizag District Cricket Association (VDCA), which is hosting the fourth India-Australia One-day International under the aegis of the Andhra Cricket Association, has made a gross profit of Rs 40 lakh. This is fifth One-day International match being hosted here. The sale of tickets alone fatched the association Rs 54 lakh, while the advertisement amount has not been disclosed by the organisers. The VDCA gave to the BCCI a guarentee money of Rs 32 lakh. Spectators hampered by tight security The spectators in the stadium had tough time as the police did not allow plastic water bottles and even newspapers keeping in view the tight security arrangements. MP, Kolkata, Orissa fans witness match The Municipal stadium at Visakhapatnam was thronged by cricket fans not only from Vizag but from far off places like Jagadalpur in Madhya Pradesh and from the bordering Orissa state along with spectators from 'city of joy' Kolkata to witness the crucial match between India and Australia. In a radius of one kilometre around the stadium, shops and business establishments were closed, keeping in view the security arrangements.
