London: Indian captain Saurav Ganguly, despite the slump in his form as evidenced in the recent series against Australia, has been invited by British Prime Major to play in an exhibition tie at the Oval on September 8. The match will be played between Rest of the World XI and Asian XI. Ganguly, obviously, will be playing for Asian XI. A similar match was organised by Mr Major, in which Saurav could not play as he had an important match for Lancashire on the same day. Ganguly said, "This time I hope I'll be able to play the match before going to South Africa." The British Prime Minister has also sent invitations to Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid to play the match. Incidentally, Sachin was to lead the Asian XI last year but a bout of chicken pox prevented him from doing so and Wasim Akram did the job in his place. It remains to be seen if Ganguly will be given the honour this year.
