New Delhi: Indian off spinner Harbhajan Singh, whose hat-trick heroics bagged him the man-of-the-series award during Australia's recent tour, has been offered a senior police post as reward. The Press Trust of India reported on Thursday that Singh had been offered the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by his home state of Punjab. At a special function on Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal handed Singh Rupees 500,000 ($ 11,000), a small plot of land in his hometown Jalandhar and the offer of a DSP position. The appointment will be taken up and cleared in the next cabinet meeting of the state government if Singh formally accepts the offer. The off spinner is already an employee of Indian Airlines. Singh became the first Indian to take a hat trick in Test cricket during the second Test against the Australian tourists in Kolkata. India won the series 2-1, ending the Australians record-breaking winning streak. AFP
