Sydney: Former Australia Test captain Greg Chappell denied on Friday he would be leaving South Australia after it finished bottom of the Sheffield Shield last season.

Chappell, the South Australian cricket manager since 1998, said he was pursuing other business interests his contract allowed him to.

South Australia Cricket Association chief executive Mike Deare welcomed the news of Chappell's commitment to stay. "We believe Greg is a vital link in future success," he said.
