Dasgupta gets ton, Dravid holds fort
England's tour of India
Mohali: Sachin Tendulkar feasted on the insipid England bowling attack as India scored 353 for four at lunch on the third day of the first Test on Tuesday. The Indians had taken a 115-run lead with Sachin batting on 77 and Ganguly unbeaten on 35.Sachin began the day in excellent fashion as he went about thrashing the hapless English bowlers. Boundaries flowed freely when Sachin faced the bowling. The rate of scoring perceptibly dropped after the fall of Rahul Dravids wicket as skipper Saurav Ganguly took his time to settle down. Dravid was also in fine nick except for the costly mistake that he made against James Ormond.Dravid, who was looking good to get a hundred, played across the line to Ormond in trying to flick down the leg side and was adjudged lbw by umpire Venkataraghavan on being rapped on the pad.The Indians, who made slow progress in the first session of the second day on Monday, added 46 runs in the first hour of play with Sachin reaching his 50. Sachin though would have been happier to play a better stroke for his 50 than fine edging past a diving wicket-keeper to the deep fine leg boundary for four. The Indians added 91 runs in the first session of 24 overs.
