Colombo: Sri Lankas most prolific run-scorer Aravinda de Silva, fondly known as Mad Max, found himself out of favour with the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) when the Board announced the list of players contracted for the next 12 months.BCCSL sources revealed that de Silva's name was not among the list of 13 submitted to them by the national selection committee.Aravinda said that he had no knowledge of the contract and that he had not got word of the same from the BCCSL. "The previous Board had discussions with me. But I couldn't follow it up with the Interim Board as I was out of the country when the contract was signed," de Silva said. De Silva was on a trip to Bangladesh to represent an Asian XI and then was away on a private trip. The selectors decided to take him off the contract as de Silva is not an automatic choice for the One-dayers. Aravinda may still be picked to represent the national squad and in such an instance he will be paid on a match-by-match basis. The new contracts provide the top players with an annual fee of $ 40,000 with provision to go over $ 50,000 by way of bonuses and tour fees. The fringe players receive something like $ 25,000 annually.
