Johannesburg: South African cricketer Darryl Cullinan has said that he is ready for the Australians who will take on South Africa both at home and here at the end of the year, despite the United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCBSA) not offering him a new contract.Cullinan, who is currently playing for English county side Kent, was the only existing national team member who was not offered a contract when the UCBSA released its list last week.UCBSA head Gerald Majola said that Cullinan had a One-year contract with Kent and they would discuss his future in South African cricket with Cullinan when he came back here later this year. But Cullinan told the Afrikaans weekly 'Rapport' that he was ready to take on the Aussies if he was selected. "If the selectors choose me when I return to South Africa at the end of September, I am ready to play against India and Australia. We will clear all this up when I return," he said.Cullinan was the highest scorer in the recent West India tour, in which South Africa was victorious in both the Test and One-day series. He said there was a possibility that his contract with Kent could be extended for another year. "I will see where I stand at the end of the season and then discuss my future with the UCBSA. But I really do still want to play Test cricket for South Africa," he said.Cullinan said he had seen that Jonty Rhodes and Allan Donald had received new contracts because they had made themselves available for Test and One-day cricket, although they had indicated a preference for One-day games only. He said he would explore whether the UCBSA would give him a similar contract if he also made himself available for One-day matches, while he preferred Tests only."I actually do not have an issue with One-day cricket itself, but rather against the great deal of travelling around involved," Cullinan said.IANS
