Dubai: India's refusal to play Pakistan has threatened the very existence of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) as it is very difficult to raise the required funds for the developments of the game in the region, according to a founder member of the body."If India does not play Pakistan, the ACC is a non-starter," Bangladesh Cricket Association (BCA) secretary Sayed Ashraf-ul-Haq told the 'Gulf News'.He said, "Without India, there is no revenue," adding that theACC was expecting to raise a lot of funds by holding the Asian Test Championships as well as the Asia Cup. "There was a great demand to snap up rights for these events," he informed. However, all the plans for the tournaments had run aground with the Indian government pulling up the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for agreeing to play the Asian Test Championship match in Pakistan without consulting it."The schedule for the Asian Test Championship was drawn following a letter given by the Indian government to the BCCI," he said, and expressed surprise why the Indian Sports Ministry later rapped the BCCI officials over the issue. The letter, he said, clearly stated that the Indian government had no objection to the Indian team playing Pakistan in multilateral events. UNI
