Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav's new role of Bihar Cricket Association President has evoked mixed reactions in the state.Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Sushil Kumar Modi alleged that Yadav was now hell-bent on politicising cricket in the state which would spoil the game in the same manner in which he had handled all other affairs of the state. He said Yadavs assertion that he would hold a day-night match between India and Pakistan held no ground as he was not competent to do so. He said Yadav should first try to organise state-level matches, the Ranji trophy matches and then only should he indulge himself in such self-aggrandisement.He, however, declined to comment on Yadavs son Tarun shining as a cricketer under the patronage of the RJD president. Bihar Cricket Association Honorary Secretary Ajay Narain Sharma, however, struck a different note, stating that ascendancy of Yadav to the presidency would help in taking the gentlemans game to newer heights. Sharma opined that after the division of Bihar, its main sporting centres at Jamshedpur, Ranchi and Dhanbad went to Jharkhand and the state government was now planning to develop Samastipur, Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur in North Bihar as the new centres of sporting excellence.
