Southgate: The strong Australian Southern Stars team overcame a not so strong MCC Invitational XI by 145 runs in its opening warm up game of the Ashes tour at the Walkers Ground. The Southern Stars bowled out its opponents for 109 runs after, earlier, having posted 251 for nine.The Southern Stars team was lead by a good all-round performance from leg spinner Olivia Magno (6 for 34 off 10 overs and 34 retired) with batting support from opener Louise Broadfoot and 'keeper Julia Price (both also retiring after making 50). Michelle Goszko compiled a handy 35. The only standout for the Invitiational side was New Zealand all-rounder Haidee Tiffen, top scoring with 34 and taking 2/46.The next tour match is against an ECB Development XI at the same ground.
