Southgate: Southern Stars registered another thumping victory in its second tour game against ECB XI on Tuesday. Put into bat the Australian side piled up formidable 257 for eight in its full complement of 50 overs. All of its top batsman got a knock in with Karen Rolton top scoring on 57 off 51 balls before retiring, while Lisa Keightley (36 off 46), Belinda Clark (34 off 55), Charmine Mason (30 not out off 27, Julie Hayes (24 off 24) and Sally Cooper (22 off 31) coming up with equally impressive shows.Leg spinner Kathryn Leng was the leading wicket-taker for the ECB XI with 2 for 32 off 9.In reply, the Stars bamboozled its opponents by running through the ECB XI for a paltry 87 in 49th over. Mason returned with a good all-round performance scalping four for 22. She was ably supported by Hayes three for 11 and Fahey two for seven.The Australian's next tour match against ECB XI is on Thursday.
