Radlett: The Southern Stars Australian team won its third and final tour match, before locking horns with England in the first Test beginning on Sunday, when it defeated ECB XI by 88 runs.After opting to take first strike, the Aussies posted yet another impressive target of 255 for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs. For the first time on tour, Belinda Clark (67) and Lisa Keightley (40) opened the innings, putting on 103. Karen Rolton, continuing her World Cup form, top scoring with an entertaining 69 off 56 balls.For ECB XI, Beth Morgan and S Clark, both, captured two for 46 off 8 overs. In reply, the ECB XI could muster only 167 for the loss of nine wickets and in doing so, managed to be the first team to bat out their complement of 50 overs. Clark top scored with 43, while Sue Redfern (29) and L Joyce were the other main contributors.For the Southern Stars, Cathryn Fitzpatrick was right on top with an impressive three for 39 off 10 and was on a hat-trick at one stage. Charmaine Mason (two for nine) and Olivia Magno (two for 13) also shared the spoils.Lisa Sthalekar, making her first appearance for Australia, made 11 and took one for 40. All the Aussie players have played at least one tour match and will eagerly await the announcement of the 1st Test team.
