New Delhi: Cricket arch-rivals India and Pakistan are planning to host a four-nation Limited Overs tournament early next year, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sources said on Tuesday.Zimbabwe and the West Indies are the other teams featured in the proposed 13-match tournament to be held in both countries in February-March.India and Pakistan jointly hosted two World Cup tournaments in 1987 and the Indian government has banned bilateral cricket ties with Pakistan in protest at Islamabad's alleged support for cross-border terrorism in the disputed region of Kashmir. But BCCI sources were confident permission would be granted for the tournament. "Since it is a quadrangular event and not a bilateral series between India and Pakistan, clearance from the Indian government should not be a problem," the sources said.India cancelled a scheduled tour of Pakistan in December and then withdrew from the Sharjah series in the Gulf. It has not played a Test in Pakistan since a four-match tour in 1989-90.India, however, is scheduled to clash with Pakistan in the Asian Test Championship, also involving Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, in September.India and Pakistan would stage six preliminary matches each, the sources said, adding that Pakistan would host the final. The tournament coincides with Zimbabwe's tour of India and a West Indian tour of Pakistan. The BCCI, meanwhile, will meet on July 7 to discuss an invitation from the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) to play indoor matches at the Colonial Stadium in Melbourne in September. The matches, which were originally scheduled to be held in the second week of September, clash with the dates of the Asian Test Championships.
