Margao: Police are all set to file charges against Goa Cricket Association (GCA) president and former Deputy Chief Minister Dayanand Narvekar and others in connection with a fake ticket scam during an international cricket match here.''Investigations have almost come to an end. We have decided to file the chargesheet in the court soon'', a police spokesman said on Tuesday.Narvekar and others are suspected of being involved in the printing and sale of fake tickets of the One-day International cricket match between India and Australia, which was held at Nehru Stadium on April 6. The police had arrested the GCA president on June 4 on various charges, including cheating, using forged documents and hatching criminal conspiracy, under section 420, 468, 471 and 120(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).In subsequent developments, GCA secretary Vinod Phadke, also an accused in the case, surrendered and was later released on bail.The alleged printing and sale of fake tickets of the crucial fifth and the last One-day International between India and Australia came to light after hundreds of cricket fans, who were holding genuine tickets, could not enter the Nehru Stadium at Fatorda on its was full. As the investigation progressed, it was revealed that the fake tickets were printed at Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu and the organisers had also got excess tickets printed from a Hyderabad based firm. UNI
