Arundel (England): Australia captain Steve Waugh's 105 helped his team to a huge 560-run lead over Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) on the second day of its three day match on Tuesday. Australia finished the day on 294 for eight after bowling out MCC for 124 in reply to the tourists first innings 390, which featured an unbeaten 168 from Simon Katich. The 36-year-old Waugh went to his 64th first-class century with two sixes and a four off consecutive balls during an over from Pakistan's Asif Mujtaba. In all he struck 19 boundaries sharing a fourth-wicket stand of 158 with Damien Martyn (80). The only disappointment for Australia was that top order batsmen Michael Slater and Justin Langer, making their first tour appearance after missing the one-day series, together with left-handed opener Matthew Hayden, went cheaply again. In the second innings the trio managed just 33 runs between them. MCC was indebted to New Zealand batsman Mark Richardson, the opener finishing on 64 not out. Australia off spinner Colin Miller took four for 41.
