Johannesburg: Cricket was not enough for former South African captain Kepler Wessels, it seems. He now wants to represent his country at the Olympics in archery after winning a gold medal in the national championships. At the South African Archery Championships held in Bloemfontein last week, Wessels won a gold medal, as did his son Riki in the under-15 category.Wessels said he and his son had taken to archery only eight months ago. He now wanted to concentrate on it full-time as he hoped to represent South Africa at the Olympics.Wessels, who had to leave South Africa because of its isolation from international sport in the apartheid era, played 24 Tests for Australiabefore returning home. He then led a fairly young South African squad tothe 1992 World Cup semi-finals with victories against India, Sri Lanka and Australia.IANS
