Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has stayed further proceedings by a lower court in the case relating to the life ban imposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin.[an error occurred while processing this directive]Mr Justice B Sudershan Reddy granted the stay on Wednesday on a Civil Revision Petition (CRP) filed by the BCCI against the direction of the lower court to file a written statement by July 19.The City Civil Court Second Additional Judge J Shayama Sundra Rao had directed the BCCI to file a written statement on a petition filed by Azharuddin regarding the appointment of K Madhavan as a one-man commission by the BCCI.Tummala Jagdish, counsel for Azharuddin said he would move the High Court to vacate the stay. The next date of hearing in the lower court is August 2. BCCI's counsel, T Niranjan Reddy had filed an application on July 12 before the lower court for striking down the plea of Azharuddin, who challenged his life ban by the BCCI. The Board also requested that the lower court permit the BCCI to file a written statement after the application was decided. However, the Second Additional Chief Judge of the City Civil Court directed the BCCI to file the written statements on July 19. The BCCI had filed a CRP in the Andhra Pradesh High Court on July 17. It came up for hearing on Wednesday and a stay was granted. Consequently, the suit was adjourned to August 2 in the lower court. UNI
