Colombo: The Indian and New Zealand cricket teams visiting Sri Lanka were on Friday promised maximum security following street battles that killed two people and the threat of further political violence, officials said. While the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka ha assured full protection to both teams, witnesses said there was no visible stepping up of security at Friday's match between New Zealand and India at the R Premadasa Stadium. The city was calm after Thursday's clashes that also left 80 people wounded, but officials feared more unrest at the weekend during the funerals of the two men killed by police.Opposition political parties on Friday decided to attend the funerals and pay their respects to the victims.
