London: Pakistan's One-day hero Shahid Afridi won the man-of-the-match award as Leicestershire dumped Worcestershire out of the Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy on Tuesday in a one-sided clash at New Road. [an error occurred while processing this directive]Leicestershire's new overseas star Afridi put the home attack to the sword with a quickfire 67 as the visitors set Worcestershire 298 to book a place in the semi-finals. But the home side never looked close to reaching once it slipped to 89 for sis after losing captain Graham Hick for just two. Worcestershire finished 118 runs short as it was dismissed for 179 with more than five overs remaining as Leicestershire became the first side to enter the last four of the competition. Afridi, who blasted a whirlwind 70 in 32 balls against Kent two days ago, gave the visiting side the ideal start with a breathtaking display of pinch-hitting. His 44-ball knock included six fours and four sixes, one of which remained lodged on the roof of the stand at the New Road end after smashing a slate. He eventually fell to Alamgir Sheriyar after offering a simple catch off the leading edge to David Leatherdale but by then, at 150 for three, Leicestershire was well in command.
