Bangalore: India defeated Sri Lanka by 46 runs at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo in the eighth match of the Coca Cola triangular series. This victory now makes Thursdays match between India and New Zealand a semi-final for all practical purposes. India did well to keep itself in contention especially after the initial collapse, which threatened to knock India out. A lot of credit should go to Yuvraj and Dravid who resurrected India with a match winning partnership and later to Ganguly who bowled a crucial spell of 10 overs, which tilted the balance in Indias favour. With two wins out of two matches, Indias fortunes have taken a positive turn and the Indians are looking good around the bend. Finally its good news for Yuvraj, who suffered a raw deal at the hands of the selectors and he, now, will have to strive for consistency he is too good a talent to be wasting away. Sodhi too played his part in Indias recovery chipping in with those vital 30 runs. The Sri Lankans must be rueing the fact that they let go an opportunity to put India out of the tournament I would think that Sri Lanka would have preferred New Zealand than the Indians who are on a rise. They lost too many wickets early, from which they never really recovered. They also gave away a lot of extras, which cost them in the final analysis. Yuvraj was declared man-of-the-match for his magnificent effort with the bat 98 not out.
