Chennai: Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) captain Anil Kumble hogged the limelight bagging five wickets for 57, as KSCA dismissed MAC-TNCA for 300 in the first innings in 96.3 overs in the MRF Buchi Babu All India cricket tournament on Saturday.[an error occurred while processing this directive]Medium pacer David Johnson who took three for 45 ably supported Kumble. The ace leg spinner took four wickets on Saturday morning conceding just 13 runs off 9.3 overs of which three were maidens.KSCA has progressed into the quarter-final by virtue of its 85-run lead in the first innings. KSCA declared at 151 for three in the second knock when play was called off.Joining KSCA in the last eight are Bengal, MRF and New Zealand 'A'. In the New Zealand 'A'-Mumbai match, Mumbai was unlucky not to have made the grade, yielding a ten-run first innings lead to the Kiwis. Mumbai, overnight 198 for four, lost wickets at regular intervals and only Nilesh Patwardan offered resistance, carrying his bat to make a fine 134. Patwardan finally ran out of partners as Mumbai was all out for 319 in 133.2 overs. New Zealand was 114 for two in the second innings when play was called off. In the MRF-Hyderabad match, MRF, overnight 448 for eight, was all out for 490, taking a 234 run first innings lead over Hyderabad. In the second knock, Hyderabad was 281 for eight in 72 overs.In the other match, Bengal made 172 for three in 47 overs after ONGC had declared its innings at 165 for one. Jolly rovers too made it to the quarter-final. Rovers, Which was 171 for three overnight was 358 all out in 114 overs in its first innings. S Badrinath (85), J Harish (65), R Ramkumar (69) were the main scorers. The highlight was a fourth-wicket partnership for 117 runs between Badrinath and Harish in 38.1 overs. Sonu Sharma took three for 94.IA, dismissed for 94, in the first knock was 148 for five in 36 overs (J Arun Kumar 44 not out).PTI
