Nairobi: Star batsman Steve Tikolo scored 59 to lead Kenya to a respectable 231 at the start of a three-day cricket match against the West Indies on Saturday.[an error occurred while processing this directive]On a bright sunny day, the Kenyans, batting first, looked to be cruising to a big total, as a third-wicket partnership of 62 runs between Tikolo and his skipper Maurice Odumbe gave the home side the inspiration it needed in its first international game in 10 months. It was only after Odumbe was trapped lbw by Corey Collymore and Tikolo was caught behind by wicket-keeper Courtney Brown that the strong Kenyan challenge appeared to be weakened. But the momentum was kept going by schoolboy Collins Omondi (47), who was on course to making his first half century, when he was caught by Collymore off the bowling of Pedro Collins.Collins's fast left arm pace bowling attack proved to be a hard task for the Kenyans as he took three wickets in only 10 runs. The Kenyans hope to build on their innings when they resume batting on Sunday morning.
