New Delhi: Indian cricket superstar Sachin Tendulkar is doubtful for the upcoming three-Test series against Sri Lanka. "Tendulkar's right toe is yet to heal," the Press Trust of India quoted unnamed cricket Board sources as saying in Mumbai on Wednesday. The picture will, however, be clear only on Friday, when Tendulkar undergoes a bone scan."The fracture is healing very slowly and it is unlikely that he will take part in the Test series," a board source told PTI. The first Test begins at Galle on August 14."However, we will get a clear picture only after the bone scan is done and if he is ruled out of the series then he might attend the board working committee meeting at Baroda on August 11," the source added.Tendulkar suffered a hairline fracture during his team's final league game against the West Indies in Zimbabwe in July. The injury ruled him out of the recent triangular One-day series in Sri Lanka.Meanwhile, physician Anant Joshi, who is treating Tendulkar, said it was difficult to say anything now and he would comment only after the second bone scan.Tendulkar's absence will be a further setback for the touring Indians, already without their latest batting sensation Venkat Sai Laxman (right knee) who has been advised prompt surgery.Laxman returned home after India's defeat against Sri Lanka in the tri-series final in Colombo on August 5. Left-arm fast bowler Ashish Nehra is also unavailable for the Test series due to a groin injury.India's ace leg spinner Anil Kumble has already been out of action since last October because of a shoulder injury.
