Mumbai: Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar would undergo another bone scan on Friday to determine if he could play in the Test series against Sri Lanka.Sachin suffered a hairline fracture on his right toe on July 4 while batting against West Indies in the triangular series in Zimbabwe. The scan would determine whether the injury has healed enough for him to participate in the Test matches.Sachin's physician Anant Joshi said last week Sachin had told him that the pain in his right toe had reduced. However, Dr Joshi said it would be clear once the bone scan reports certify how far the fracture has healed.Meanwhile, former cricketers said that even if there was one per cent doubt about Sachin's fitness, he should avoid going to Sri Lanka, as the South African tour is coming up.Polly Umrigar, the former Indian batsman said Sachin should take some more rest. It was not worth taking a risk of another injury, he added. Ravi Shastri, the former Indian all-rounder and now commentator, said Sachin should go only if 100 per cent fit. It was not worth even if there is an iota of risk involved, he added. Dilip Sardesai, another former cricketer said it should be left to the doctors to decide. If there was a slight doubt, he should stay behind. Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) joint secretary Ratnakar Shetty was of the opinion that Tendulkar should not take the risk. Jacob Martin could replace Sachin in case the master blaster decides against going to Lanka. UNI
