New Delhi: Star Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar's toe injury is not healing well enough and he will take a second medical opinion in South Africa, a top cricket official told AFP on Saturday.[an error occurred while processing this directive]"We have arranged for Sachin to consult Dr Mark Fergusson and he will leave for Johannesburg on August 23," Board of Control for Cricket in Indi (BCCI) secretary J Y Lele said. Fergusson is essentially a shoulder specialist who has treated Indian paceman Javagal Srinath and ace leg spinner Anil Kumble in the past. But the BCCI has a lot of faith in Fergusson and in consultation with Anant Joshi, a doctor who is treating Tendulkar in Mumbai, decided to seek his help for the master batsman."Dr Fergusson is an expert in sports injuries and we hope he will help Sachin recover in time for the tour of South Africa next month," said Lele.Tendulkar suffered a hairline fracture on his right toe during a triangular series in Zimbabwe in July. In his absence, India lost badly to hosts Sri Lanka in the tri-series final and also went down by 10 wickets in the first match of a three-Test series in Sri Lanka. The Indian team has been hit by a spate of injuries in recent weeks. New batting sensation Venkat Sai Laxman and left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra were forced to return home after the tri-series in Sri Lanka.Laxman is currently in Australia for a knee operation, while Nehra is undergoing treatment for a groin injury at home. Kumble has been recuperating from a shoulder injury since last October and another experienced player, Srinath, has just been ruled out of the ongoing series in Sri Lanka with a fractured hand.
