Bangalore: Bangalore University dished out an upset win in the Jyoti Nivas tri-series womens cricket tournament when it defeated Sri Lanka Women Cricket Association in final. Unbeaten till the final, Sri Lanka Women Cricket Association fell short of the required target of 168 by 39 runs.[an error occurred while processing this directive]State lass Karuna Jain was in the thick of things once again top-scoring with an unbeaten 77 as Bangalore University posted 167 for five in its allotted quota of 40 overs. Rakhee Goyal was the other main contributor, scoring 25 with the help of two fours. For the Sri Lankans only Ganga de Silva (26) and Sumudu Fernando (24) could help its cause, to an extent.Sunitha was the most successful bowler for Bangalore University picking up four for 41, while Rashmi Shivashankar scalped three for 28. Karuna was declared the eve of the final. The Sri Lankan WCA had won the three-match series against Jyoti Nivas College 3-0 and posted victories against Bangalore University and Eithiraj College (Chennai) in the league phase before flattering in the title round on Monday.
