Bangalore: Ace leg spinner Anil Kumble, who is staging a comeback to international cricket in the tour to South Africa after a long lay-off, said on Wednesday the coming series is going to be tough but expressed confidence of the Indian side putting up a good performance.[an error occurred while processing this directive]It's going to be a tough tour. South Africa is obviously a good side, India's second-highest Test wicket-taker with 276 scalps from 61 Tests said here. But he hastened to add that the coming back of the injured players has reinforced the team, which would put up a good performance.Kumble, who was out of international cricket action since last October following a shoulder injury, expressed the view that in the absence of injured players, India had done well against Sri Lanka in the recent series. He warned South Africans that with himself and Harbhajan Singh bowling in tandem, the pressure would be much more on batsmen. I am looking forward to bowling with him (Harbhajan), Kumble said. I have played matches with Harbhajan. Now he has definitely developed into a fantastic bowler. Remember, he is only 21. He has a lot of potential. It's a great thing bowling with him, Kumble, who will be turning 31 on October 17, said.Kumble, who was responding to queries from advocates here after a felicitation function, said he along with Karnataka players such as Javagal Srinath, Rahul Dravid, Venkatesh Prasad and Sunil Joshi used to communicate in Kannada when in close circles on the field and on other occasions in Hindi. But when we play against Pakistan, we used to speak only in Kannada, the former Leicestershire and Northamptonshire spinner said amid laughter. On why he took up a career in cricket after graduating in engineering, Kumble replied, "Circumstances forced me to take up engineering. I had to have a degree. But cricket was my love and passion. He has already said that he is confident of bowling with ease and getting his rhythm in the coming series. He had been following a rehabilitation programme after undergoing surgery in January this year. Kumble has emphasised that Indian team should not worry about its dismal overseas record and should play well and hoped that results would favour the Indians. PTI
