Chennai: Jagmohan Dalmiya was on Saturday elected president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) defeating incumbent A C Muthiah.[an error occurred while processing this directive]At the Board's 72nd Annual General Meeting here, the former president of the International Cricket Council (ICC) polled 17 votes against 13 by Muthiah who was seeking a third term in office.Of the total 31 votes, 30 were at stake, 29 units plus the president's, and Goa was not allowed to vote as per the board president's ruling on the basis of opinion given by legal advisor Nalini Chidambaram.In another debacle for a sitting office-bearer, Niranjan Shah ousted secretary Jaywant Lele via the president's 'casting vote' after the two rivals were tied 15-15.PTI
