Mumbai: Cricket Club of India (CCI) has assured the Mumbai High Court that it would not enter into an agreement with BCCI for lease of 9000 square feet at stadium house in Mumbai unless its members approved it in the general body meeting.[an error occurred while processing this directive]CCI counsel Goolam Vahanvati made a statement before Justice J A Patil on September 27 that the decision to lease the area was already approved by executive committee of CCI. However, in view of pending litigation in the high court, CCI would bring the issue before its members at an extra-ordinary general body meeting, which shall be convened shortly, he said.Only if the members approved of such a decision in the general body meeting, CCI would enter into an agreement with BCCI, he contended. Two members of CCI, Ram Khanna and Nirmal Suchanti, had filed a suit in the high court praying for an injunction on the lease of 9000 square feet area at stadium house to the BCCI on the grounds that it was ultra vires the club's constitution and the decision was malafide.Accepting CCI's statement on record, Justice Patil adjourned the suit for further hearing on October 8 next.
