Sydney: Former Australian Test cricket batsman Peter Burge died on Friday in Brisbane, aged 69. Burge was believed to have suffered a heart attack, the Queensland Cricket Association said.
Burge played 42 Tests between 1954-55 and 1965-66, scoring 2,290 runs at 38.16 with four centuries. The hard hitting Queenslander also scored almost 15,000 first class runs with 38 hundreds. He was a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1965. In recent years Burge had served as an international cricket match referee.
