Bangalore: A fine, unbeaten knock (74 runs with 11 fours) from the blade of opener Karuna Jain helped Karnataka gain full points against Kerala in the South Zone women's cricket tournament at the St John's Medical College ground on Monday.

While S Rashmi claimed two wickets in her spell of 10 overs (four maidens, 15 runs), thatscricket.com's Mamatha Maben bowled superbly for an analysis of eight overs, three maidens, nine runs and one wicket. Karnataka, riding on Jain's effort, raced away to 112 for one in 27.2 overs. Andhra Pradesh scored an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Tamil Nadu in another match at the National Aerospace Laboratories ground. Tamil Nadu, batting first, was bundled out for 66 with only opener Amsavalli (21) reaching double figures. Andhra Pradesh reached 68 for three. |
