Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday said a player's fitness could be decided only by a BCCI-appointed experts and any claims made by individual players or their doctors make no difference.
| Denying media reports about left-arm medium pacer Zaheer Khan's fitness, BCCI executive secretary Sharad Diwadkar said in Mumbai that only BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah, who is away attending the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings in Kuala Lumpur, will decide the date and venue for the fitness test for both Zaheer Khan and fellow left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra. "The player or his doctor may claim he is fit but the player has to undergo fitness test arranged by the BCCI and that will be decided only after the secretary returns from Malaysia," Diwadkar added. Zaheer Khan had pulled out of the on-going triangular series in South Africa due to tissue inflammation while Nehra, with groin problem, failed the fitness test a day before the team left for South Africa. |
