TN wins final ODI to share trophy with CDCA

Chennai: Tamil Nadu scored a thrilling 57-run victory over Colombo District Cricket Association (CDCA) in the third and final One-day match for the F C De Saram Trophy in Chennai on Wednesday.
 With both teams having won a match each and another washed out, the Trophy will be shared. The hosts who won the Trophy in Colombo in 2000 would keep it for the first six months, according to organisers. In the match on Wednesday, Tamil Nadu, opting to bat first, made 227 all out in 49.4 overs. Colombo, with seven players having played for the country in their ranks, could muster only 170 runs before being all out in 43.3 overs. The highlight of day's play was a fine 67 off 95 balls by Madanagopal and his two useful stands of 86 for the fourth wicket with Vasanth Saravanan (51) in 21.3 overs and 55 for the sixth in just 8.3 overs with S Sharath (28). Left arm medium pacer Gayan Wijekoon claimed six wickets for 33 runs while Dinusha Fernando (two for 26) and off spinner M Pushpakumara (two for 24) were the other wicket takers. In reply, Colombo lost wickets at regular intervals. Tilekeratne Dilshan (28), captain Tilan Samaraweera (26) and Upul Chandana (37) were the main scorers. Tamil Nadu's left arm spinner R Ramkumar bagged three for 36 and was adjudged the man-of- the-match. L Balaji and Aashish Kapoor took two wickets each. After a day's rest on Thursday, the teams play their four-day fixture for the Gopalan Trophy from on Friday.
