Injured Harbhajan out, India bats first

Bloemfontein: South Africa captain Shaun Pollock won the toss and put India in to bat in the first of the three Test series on Saturday.

There were two debutants in the Indian team - middle order batsman Virender Sehwag and wicket-keeper Deep Dasgutpa - as the visitors went into the match without star off spinner Harbhajan Singh, who is nursing an injury. The teams: India: Saurav Ganguly (captain), Shiv Sunder Das, Rahul Dravid, V V S Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Deep Dasgupta, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra.
