Bangalore: Thatscricket.coms Mamatha Maben is among the strong contenders for an Indiacap during Englands tour of India. The England womens team will play five One-dayInternationals and one Test during January 2002. [an error occurred while processing this directive]The One-day Internationals will commence from January 11, while the four-day Test will beplayed from January 23 to 26 at Mumbai. The proposed venues for the One-dayers areChennai, Hyderabad (2nd and 3rd ODI), Bangalore and Pune. A string of good performances, both with the bat and the ball, during the South Zone inter-state,National and Rani Jhansi Inter-Zonal championships, helped Maben strive for a probable comeback into the national reckoning after a gap of eight years. Maben played for Karnataka and also led the South Zone team in the Inter-Zonalchampionship. Maben, who scored 54 against Railways, 53 not out against Central Zone, 83not out against North Zone, 41 against West Zone and also claimed six wickets, was declaredas the Player-of-the-tournament in the Inter-Zonal meet.
