Mumbai: Contrary to reports that the venue of England's tour opener had been shifted due to security reasons, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) secretary Ratnakar Shetty on Thursday asserted that the match was "always to be held at Wankhede Stadium and not any where else"."The two-day match between England and MCA President's XI was always to be held at the Wankhede Stadium and not at any other venue," Shetty told in Mumbai. "There is no question of holding the match on any ground as it is a tour opener involving a visiting team against MCA," Shetty said.Shetty was reacting to reports that the tour opener was to be held at Bombay Gymkhana on November 18 and 19 but was shifted to Wankhede Stadium where adequate security could be provided to the tourists.Meanwhile, Shetty said there were plans to make this tie a three-day affair, though there was no confirmation as yet from the Board (BCCI). BCCI executive secretary Sharad Diwadkar too confirmed that the match would be held at the Wankhede Stadium and added it would be a two-day affair as the ECB, who wanted a three-day tie, had not got back to him till now.
