Hobart: Fringe Test batsmen Darren Lehmann and Greg Belwett destroyed Tasmania with a massive partnership to put South Australia in command of its Sheffield Shield cricket game here on Saturday. [an error occurred while processing this directive]The pair smashed the South Australian second wicket record as Lehmann made 246 and Blewett 163. They put on 386 runs in only 295 minutes, obliterating the old record of 308 by Barry Richards and Ian Chappell in Perth in 1970-71. At stumps on the third day, South Australia was 589 for five, a 207-run lead over Tasmania's 382 for seven declared. Ben Higgins was 69 and Graham Manou 27. Lehmann said he had yet to decide whether to declare overnight, or go for more runs in the morning. In Melbourne, rain was expected to ruin any chance of an outright result in the match between Victoria and New South Wales. Showers forced four delays on Saturday, with more than two and a half hours of play lost, and the forecast was also grim for Sunday's final day.Victoria was 69 for four at stumps, with Ian Harvey 12 and Darren Berry 10, after losing 3-0 soon after tea. Stuart Clark had 2-15, while Nathan Bracken and Stuart MacGill had a wicket apiece and Brad Hodge scored 26.NSW was dismissed for 338 before lunch, giving it first-innings points and a lead of 79 after Victoria made 259. Michael Bevan top-scored with 128, Matthew Inness impressed with three wickets for innings figures of 4 for 61 and Harvey snared 3 for 53.
