Mohali: A strong work force is racing against time to deck up the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali for the first Test between India and England starting on December 3 even as the status of the match is yet not clear following a stand-off between International Cricket Council (ICC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).The authorities, which held an organising committee meeting in Mohali on Wednesday, claimed that the match is on and expected that the controversy, emanating from inclusion of Virender Sehwag in the Indian squad, would be resolved amicably before it's commencement. As a result of the controversy, the usual enthusiasm among cricket fans seems missing with just four days left for the match to begin. The authorities though have left no stone unturned in their lead-up to the match. Stands in the stadium have been given a colourful look and roads leading to the ground are being spruced up for the mega event, which has returned to PCA after a gap of one year. The English team, which had joined the bandwagon by announcing that it was not here to play friendly matches, and will only comply by ICC's recent decisions, is arriving in Chandigarh by a private plane on Friday."Whether the English team will go in for a workout on the same day or not is not known," said a PCA official. Another official quipped, "It was good that the venue was getting undue publicity following the controversy."PTI
