England tour of India - News - Cricket: Kambli hits ton, MCA XI 264 for 2

Mumbai: Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President's XI had made 264 for 2 off 55 overs at tea on the opening day of the two-day cricket match against England at the Wankhede Stadium here on Sunday.After being put into bat by the visitors, the hosts were helped by two responsible knocks by openers Wasim Jaffar (99) off 148 balls and unbeaten 105 by Test discard Vinod Kambli. Bhavin Thakkar (9) was at the crease giving Kambli company when the players went off the field for tea. Kambli has so far hit 18 boundaries off 107 balls in his stay of 143 minutes while Jaffar hit 15 boundaries in his stay of 202 minutes at the crease before being caught by Richard Dawson at short mid-wicket off Craig White just one short of a century.PTI
