Kolkata: As cricketing heroes hog the limelight on field, a host of celebrity guests, including four Union Ministers, descended on the Eden Gardens adding to the glamour of the first One-day International between India and England on Saturday.[an error occurred while processing this directive]Savouring a 78-run partnership of Indian openers Saurav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar from the VIP lounge were Union Ministers Pramod Mahajan, Arun Jaitley, Shanawaz Hussain and Uma Bharti.As each of the celebrities were ushered in with a customary display of their arrival on the giant scoreboard, a capacity crowd of 92,000 cheered with Mexican waves. Besides the CEO of English cricket Board (ECB) Tim Lamb and Sunil Gavaskar, president of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Md Ali Asghar was present as a special invitee, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Jagmohan Dalmiya, who is also the BCCI chief, said.Former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu and state Sports Minister Subhas Chakraborty were also present.
