Dhaka: Khaled Mashud was on Wednesday named Bangladesh's captain for next month's cricket tour of New Zealand. The wicket-keeper-batsman replaced Naimur Rahman, who was axed after Bangladesh lost a two-Test home series against Zimbabwe this week.[an error occurred while processing this directive]"Rahman and former captain Akram Khan have been dropped as they are not doing well," chief selector Mainul Hoque said. Middle-order batsman Sanwar Hossain was included in place of Rahman, while Tushar Imran replaced Akram in a 15-member squad for the two Tests in New Zealand. The first Test starts at Hamilton from December 18, followed by the second at Wellington from December 26. Bangladesh has lost six of its seven matches since gaining Test status last year, salvaging the lone draw in the first Test against Zimbabwe at Dhaka last week when rain washed play on the last two days. The team: Khaled Mashud (captain), Javed Omar Belim, Al-Shahriar, Habibul Bashar, Aminul Islam, Sanwar Hossain, Mohammad Ashraful, Khaled Mahmud, Enamul Hoque, Fahim Muntasir, Mashrafee bin Mortuza, Monjurul Islam, Mohammad Sharif, Tushar Imran and Hasibul Hossain.
