Kolkata: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is waiting for a response from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to its demands for removal of Mike Denness as match referee before deciding its next course of action, Board secretary Niranjan Shah said on Wednesday."We are yet to get a response from the ICC and before that nothing can be said," Shah said from his residence in Rajkot.Asked whether some compromise formula was being worked out to break the deadlock, the BCCI secretary replied "it cannot be done like that". He said, only the ICC Chairman Malcolm Gray could take a decision on any penalty already imposed and hence there, "cannot be any compromise formula once a penalty is imposed by a match referee".BCCI had demanded the replacement of Denness as match referee for the third Test between India and South Africa beginning on November 24 or alternatively his decision to impose harsh penalties on six Indian cricketers be kept in abeyance.
