Chandigarh: A determined Indian team, keen to make amends after a disappointing South African tour, arrived here on Saturday afternoon for the first cricket Test against England starting at Mohali on December 3.Virendera Sehwag, in the eye of a storm after the furore over his one-match suspension handed down by English match referee Mike Denness, accompanied the team as expected after Board of Control for Cricket in India president Jagmohan Dalmiya had asked the batsman to be with the team. Sehwag would sit out for this match in compliance with the ICC directive but has been assured by Dalmiya of a place in the side for the next match at Ahemdabad. But the new-look Indian team was without its skipper Saurav Ganguly who is expected to join later. The players, who have had to contend with a lot of off-field controversy arising out of punishments handed down to six Indian cricketers by Denness, were whisked away straight to the hotel amid tight security. The three new faces of the team Tinu Yohannan, Iqbal Siddiqui and Sanjay Bangar as well as the English team had reached the city on Friday.PTI
