New Delhi: The government is considering a proposal from the BCCI for participation in a triangular series in Bangladesh, also involving Pakistan. The proposal for participation in the tournament, scheduled to be held from January 1 to 14, next year, has been received from BCCI and "is under consideration in consultation with the Ministry of External Affairs", Minister of State for Sports Pon Radhakrishnan informed Lok Sabha in a written reply on Tuesday.
"A final decision is yet to be taken in this regard," he said. Regarding cricketing ties with Pakistan, the minister said the government had taken a decision not to play matches at non-regular venues for at least three years. While there was no objection to play against Pakistan in multi-lateral tournaments, he said the decision about specific tournaments is taken in consultation with Ministries of Home Affairs and External Affairs keeping various facts in view including security implications prevalent at that point of time.
