England tour of India - Cricket: India loses Kumble, 79 for two at lunch

Mohali: India made slow progress to reach for 79 two at lunch on the second day of the first Test against England on Tuesday. Dasgupta was batting on 34 with Rahul Dravid yet to open his account. The Indians had added 55 runs in 30 overs.India lost the wicket of night watchman Anil Kumble to debutant off spinner Richard Dawson. Anil Kumble tried to cut Dawson and was well taken by debutant wicket-keeper James Foster.The Indians till the fall of Kumbles wicket appeared to grind their way into the match with both the overnight batsmen digging in against the English medium pacers. Kumble scored 37 runs with four hits to the fence and added 54 runs for the second wicket.Wicket-keeper Deep Dasgupta, who has opted to open the innings, played a very patient knock as the English bowlers failed to make any impression. Though the scoring rate was very slow, the Indians managed to keep their wickets intact.
