Nairobi: All-rounder Maurice Odumbe hit a magnificent 171 not out as Kenya reached 391 for the loss of six wickets on the first day of the second three-day match against Zimbabwe 'A' on Tuesday.
| Odumbe imposed his threatening presence for four and half hours with his steady flow of runs. Apart from a brief lack of concentration early in the match, when he was dropped at slips on 15 and mid wicket on 30, Odumbe set his career-best score in a three-day game off 201 balls. His innings contained 24 fours and a towering six. He shared a sixth wicket partnership of 209 runs with Hitesh Modi, which was broken when Modi was trapped leg before by David Mutendera. Modi, who was dropped from the team to the triangular series in South Africa in October, returned with an impressive 82. Zimbabwe, which lost the first three-dayer by an innings and 23 runs, should gain encouragement through the arrival of former captain Alistair Campbell, who joined the team on Tuesday. |
