London: England fast-medium bowler James Ormond has signed a three-year contract with Surrey, the county's chief executive Paul Sheldon confirmed on Friday.
Ormond, 24, currently on tour in India where he picked up his second Test wicket in England's defeat in Mohali, joins the Benson and Hedges Cup holders after seven years at Leicestershire. Ormond took 225 wickets at an average of 25.67 in first-class cricket for Leicestershire and 101 wickets at 22.57 in Limited Overs cricket. Sheldon said, "This is a tremendous signing for the club and will give us the strength in depth to challenge for all four major competitions next season." Surrey failed to make it three county championship crowns in three seasons when Yorkshire finished top of the table this summer.
