Karaikudi: Mumbai and Delhi were declared joint winners of the Gunavathi C K Nayudu trophy after rain played spoilsport and deprived Mumbai of a possible win in the final of the all India Inter-University Women's tournament in Karaikudi on Tuesday.
Batting first, Delhi university collapsed to 97 for eight in the allotted 45 overs with Asha Rawat (37) alone offering some resistance. Mumbai started well but when the score was 63 for one after 22.1 overs, rain interrupted play. As a minimum of 25 overs was not played, both the teams were declared joint winners. Mumbai will keep the trophy for the first six months and Delhi the next six months. Dr A Ramaswamy, vice-chancellor, Alagappa University, distributed the prizes.
