Prasad, Ganesh restrict Kerala to 228 runs

Bangalore: Medium pacers Venkatesh Prasad and Dodda Ganesh reigned supreme as Karnataka dismissed Kerala for 228 runs in its first innings on the opening day of four-day South Zone Ranji Trophy league match in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Prasad grabbed four wickets for 53 runs and Ganesh scalped three for 64 as the visitors were bowled out in 67.3 overs after being sent into bat by Karnataka skipper J Arun Kumar. The highlight of the Kerala innings was an unbeaten 87 by Sreekumaran Nair and his 71-run sixth wicket partnership with captain Sunil Oasis, who made 47, after the visitors were tottering at 57 for five wickets. Nair, who hit 14 fours in his 146-ball knock before he ran out of partners, put on 57 runs for the seventh wicket with K N Ananthapadmanabhan (16) and 37 for the last wicket with Suresh Kumar (18). In reply, Karnataka was 14 without loss after three overs. Play was cut short following bad light.
