Bangalore: Medium pacers Venkatesh Prasad and Dodda Ganesh reigned supreme as Karnataka dismissed Kerala for 228 runs in its first innings on the opening day of four-day South Zone Ranji Trophy league match in Bangalore on Tuesday.
|Prasad grabbed four wickets for 53 runs and Ganesh scalped three for 64 as the visitors were bowled out in 67.3 overs after being sent into bat by Karnataka skipper J Arun Kumar. The highlight of the Kerala innings was an unbeaten 87 by Sreekumaran Nair and his 71-run sixth wicket partnership with captain Sunil Oasis, who made 47, after the visitors were tottering at 57 for five wickets. Nair, who hit 14 fours in his 146-ball knock before he ran out of partners, put on 57 runs for the seventh wicket with K N Ananthapadmanabhan (16) and 37 for the last wicket with Suresh Kumar (18).
