Bangalore: Indian leg spinner Anil Kumble, who crossed the 300-wicket milestone in Test cricket on Thursday, regretted that he could not achieve the feat on the first day when his mother was watching the match.
"My mother came to the stadium on the first day, but could not make it today because she had taken ill," the 66-Test veteran said.
"Chandra was my favourite bowler and I am delighted to get there on the same ground where these four bowlers did India proud."
Kumble, who missed a year's cricket due to a shoulder injury and made a comeback on the recent tour of South Africa, said he had not set any targets."I take it as it comes," he said. "It was very frustrating to stay home and watch cricket on TV for a year and it was a big relief to be back."
Kumble, who made his Test debut in 1990, is only the second bowler after Jim Laker of England to claim all 10 wickets in an innings.Kumble achieved the feat against Pakistan in Delhi in 1999, 43 years after Laker did it against Australia at Old Trafford in 1956.
